FAQs
What is the intake process like?
-
Consultation Call: We will start with a brief phone call to determine if I’m a good fit for your needs. During this call, we can schedule an initial appointment.
-
Intake Paperwork: Before our first session, you’ll be asked to complete intake paperwork. This will be done through my secure electronic health record (EHR).
-
Initial Evaluation: Our initial evaluation typically spans approximately two sessions. During this time, I’ll conduct an assessment and we’ll discuss your treatment goals and create an initial treatment plan.
What are sessions like?
Our sessions will be collaborative and structured. Together, we’ll identify specific goals. I’ll use evidence-based techniques to help manage negative thoughts and behaviors. To promote positive change in your daily life, I often assign “homework.” These skills are most effective when practiced outside of therapy.
When working directly with children, I focus on building rapport and motivating them to engage in treatment. Therapeutic play, games, and other activities are used where appropriate to teach and reinforce skills.
Sessions typically last 45 minutes, but this can be adjusted based on your individual needs.
How long can I expect to be in therapy?
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments are intentionally designed to be time-limited. The primary objective is to provide effective assistance in the shortest duration possible. Typically, a course of CBT therapy spans 12 to 20 sessions, depending on the individual’s specific needs and progress. However, the actual length of treatment can vary significantly and is ultimately decided collaboratively by the therapist and the client.
Do you offer both in-person and virtual sessions?
Yes!
My in-person office is in Riverdale, NY.
I use a confidential, secure Zoom account for my virtual sessions.
Do you take insurance?
As an out-of-network provider, I do not directly accept insurance. However, I will gladly provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you’d like to learn more about your out-of-network benefits, please reach out to your insurance provider.
What are your typical rates?
A standard 45-minute session costs $350.
Additionally, for minors, there is an intake fee of $100 added to the initial session. This fee covers the time spent reaching out to schools, doctors, and other relevant parties to gather a comprehensive understanding during the initial assessment.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel a scheduled session within 24 hours of the appointment, you will be charged for the session. However, if we are able to reschedule within the same week, you will not be charged for a missed session.
